Vinyasa Yoga

Inner Heat Yoga offers a variety of Vinyasa yoga classes. Vinyasa yoga is one of the more popular yoga styles practiced in the west today. Vinyasa yoga moves through fluid poses and the sequence is rarely the same. This is different from "fixed forms" of yoga like Bikram and Ashtanga where classes often feature the same postures in the same order.

The fluid, changing sequences of Vinyasa yoga allows the body to become balanced and help to prevent repetitive motion injuries that generally occur from doing the same thing every day and using the same muscle groups. Vinyasa helps us to honor the impermanence of life as we fluidly move from one pose to the next.

Vinyasa means a gradual progression or a step-by-step approach that systematically and appropriately takes a participant from one point and safely lands them at the next point. Shiva Rea says, “Vinyasa in its original meaning from the early Tantras is understood as the ‘sequence of consciousness,’ or how life unfolds from…the creative pulse of life.”

Anusara Alignment Yoga
Anusara® Yoga means “flowing with grace” or “follow your heart.” Anusara Yoga promotes deep personal growth and transformative experiences on all levels due to its comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, creative, and joyful approach to the physical, mental, spiritual, and mystical aspects of yoga. Through community, movement, meditation, breathwork, and Tantric philosophy, Anusara Yoga aligns your mind, body, and heart, thus giving you the opportunity to connect to yourself in a deeper way.

Anusara Yoga is a unique form of Hatha yoga that invites people of all backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to improve strength, flexibility and balance. Anusara goes beyond fitness by supporting practitioners in self-discovery.

What can you expect from an Anusara class?

  • A focus on aligning mind, body, and heart through careful movement, based on a deep understanding of the body’s skeletal, muscle and fascia structures

  • Increased strength, flexibility, balance, and awareness

  • A highly-trained teacher who is eager to share their love of Anusara with newcomers and experienced practitioners alike

  • The opportunity to connect the heart, body, and mind through meditation and reflection

Strong Yoga For Mature Bodies
Geared towards active older adults, “Strong Yoga for Mature Bodies” will teach you alignment and breathwork to ensure you can prevent injury, mitigate stiffness or weakness, and find steadiness and openness in every pose.  This class is slow-paced with the posture held and repeated, rather than a flow class.  It is appropriate for all levels of experience.
Buti Yoga
A vigorous Vinyasa flow class combining creative Asana techniques and cardio bursts. This class is designed to get the heart rate elevated, release tension through dynamic sequencing , and channel primal movements. Participants can expect to move through faster and more challenging transitions than a traditional Vinyasa class.
As always, mindful and safe practice is first and foremost and we encourage listening to your body’s unique needs and capabilities. Buti Yoga class is an opportunity to enhance your existing Asana practice and embrace new inspiring movements.
Active Chair Yoga

This one hour class is geared towards people who are looking for a strong yoga practice, but are limited in their ability to get up and down off the floor, have tight hips, funky knees or are a little unsteady.

This class will use chairs in a variety of ways, (not just sitting) embracing its use as a prop; and it will ensure a well-rounded, stretching and strengthening yoga class for all.

Poses will be modified for those who can get up and down off the floor.

Gentle Beginner Yoga

This is a class for true beginners, or anyone who is a bit intimidated by yoga even while knowing they want its benefits.

We'll go over poses individually and I'll help students find the adjustments that work for their bodies. Lots of emphasis on mindfulness and paying attention to understanding one's own limits and capabilities.

Evening Yoga

This soothing 60min Yoga evening class consists of a series of poses designed to calm the body and bring down ones' energy for a healthful night's sleep.

All levels welcome.

Pilates Flow

Pilates Flow is a seamless combination of Pilates Mat exercises and Vinyasa Yoga flow. Throughout the sequences of exercises and postures the body is guided into the fluidity of each movement while working on alignment, core control, strengthening of the body, joint stabilization and improvement of flexibility.

This full body class is suitable for all levels of students. The instructor will offer variations for each different level of practice.

Pilates Mat
Pilates Mat is a Modern approach to the series of Classical Pilates Mat exercises created by Joseph Pilates. In this full body class breathing, alignment and movement are all fundamentally linked as you work to tone the body, stabilize the core, improve balance and increase flexibility.

This class is a great exploration of movement and the human body as we integrate and explore the six fundamental principles of Pilates for every exercise which are:

Breath

Concentration

Centering

Control

Precision

Flow

Pilates Mat is an all levels class. We use props such as the Pilates Ring (or Magic Circle), small ball, Theraband and blocks to create stability, add challenge, and provide variations for each student in class.

Pilates Flexibility

Pilates Flexibility is an all levels class focused on strengthening the full body (emphasis for the core and glutes) with several Pilates exercises while weaving in a series of stretches, Yoga asanas and dynamic flexibility.

The instructor customizes each exercise and stretches to every level of student. Pilates Flexibility is a perfect combination of body toning and lengthening of muscles.

Essentrics

Originating in Canada, Essentrics is a full body workout that activates and rebalances your muscles, frees your joints and increases your mobility.
Essentrics draws on the flowing movements of Tai Chi which create health and balance, the strengthening theories behind Ballet which create long, lean, flexible muscles, and the healing principles of Physiotherapy which create a pain free body.
